Material-Method: The recent clinical status of 17 patients was evaluated. The functional outcome was determined according to Buck-Gramcko assessment system. Grip strength, and lateral, tip, and three-fingered pinches were measurednd uninjured hands. Sensory evaluation was assessed by Semmes Weinstein Monofilament Test (SWMT). Hand dexterity was determined by Nine Hole Peg Test (NHPT). Hand disability in daily living activities was evaluated by Stanford Health Assessment Questionnaire. Results: Four female (23.5%), 13 (76.5%) male, a total of 17 patients with a mean age of 30.5±14.8 years (12- 62) were enrolled to the study. The functional results were excellent in 15 (88%) and good in 2 (12%) of the fingers according to Buck-Gramcko assessment system. Grip strength, lateral, pinch and three-fingered pinch recovered to an average of 59%, 61%, 61% and 62% respectively. 5 patients had normal sensation 2 had diminished light touch, and 5 had loss of protective sensation, 3 patients were anesthetic. One patient had no disability, 7 patients had mild, 8 had moderate, and 1 had severe disability in daily living activities Conclusion: Hand dexterity and ability in performing daily living activities of the patients should be taken into consideration during the assessment of functional outcomes of the patients who received rehabilitation programs for zone V flexor tendon injuries. |
