ABSTRACT
Objective: The aim at our study is to investigate whether there is a difference between the recoveries of the patients admitted to earlier rehabilitation and the ones admitted to late rehabilitation program in terms of disorder and activity limitation.

Methods: Fifty two patients with stroke were enrolled in this study. The patients were categorized into two groups as those admitted to the hospital 1 month after stroke and those admitted later than 1 month after stroke. Both groups were applied Fugl Meyer Physical Performance Scale and Functional Independence Measure(FIM), when they first admitted to the hospital, when they were discharged and 1 month after their discharge.

Results: Significant changes were detected in the Fugl Meyer total and FIM total values of both patient group at the time of their discharge and controls compared to their admission to the hospital. The change in the FIM of the early applying patients was statistically meaningful compared to the late applying group, but the change in the Fugl Meyer total was not meaningful. Statistically meaningful development was observed in the Fugl Meyer balance evaluation of the patients on discharge and controls; this difference is statically higher in the early applying group compared to the late applicant one.

Conclusion: In our study, it has been seen that rehabilitation at every stage of the diseases for the paralitic patients is important. Both early applying patients and late applying patients showed developments in terms of functionality and physical performance by means of regular rehabilitation.
