ABSTRACT
Varicella zoster virus, a member of the herpes virus family, is a neurotrophic virus that mainly affects afferent sensory neurons. After a childhood chickenpox infection, reactivation of latent virus within the dorsal root ganglion causes the characteristic symptoms of herpes zoster. Herpes zoster, skin vesicular eruptions, radicular pain and causes sensory disturbances in the distribution of the affected ganglion. Motor weakness also occurs in 1% to 5% of cases with zoster infection. In this case report, a 42-year-old female patient with severe low back leg pain and right lower extremity weakness, herpes zoster-related lumbar radiculopathy and complex regional pain syndrome, accompanied by deep vein thrombosis is presented with the rehabilitation program.
